And the results....

A Boy!

With every dark time in one's life, there are always bright ones. We can now start calling our baby by his real name: Kai.

Kai means "Ocean" in Japanese and, interestingly, in Hawaiian. This gives us a nod to the Japanese culture (Obviously) and the Hawaiian culture (Where Maia went to junior and senior high and her father still resides in). It is also the name of the Kyudo position just before releasing the arrow, the "Prepared to shoot" position (It means "Culmination" or "Meeting", meaning "Where the spirit and the weapon meet in harmony in order to properly fire the bow"). It uses a different Kanji, though.

Kai also sounds a lot like "Guy" (in fact, in Japanese, the name is almost exactly the same-Here's to hoping you guys can all see "Simplified Chinese and Japanese" character sets...):

Kai: カイ
Guy: ガイ

(I get the cute little quotes, he won't...)

The Kanji that we will use will be ocean: "海”

Yeah... that's cool.

Interesting, though, for those of you that use a Japanese word processor... I have to type his name in as "umi"... It's strange typing Kai and spelling it "Umi"... only in Japanese .... :D

I'm ready to embark on this new adventure, with my son! :D
